Reports have been received that Chinese flag vessel YONG XING 56 (20,763gt, built 2008) issued a distress call yesterday after taking on water in the Tatar Strait.
The vessel’s crew has been rescued by ferry SAKHALIN-8. No casualties have been reported.
YONG XING 56 reportedly has a breach in the forward starboard area and has a trim on the bow as a result.
The bulk carrier is on a voyage from Huanghua, China to Vanino, Russia.
