Reports have been received that Bahamas flag vessel RESURGENCE (9,443gt built 2002) came into collision with Singapore flag vessel WAN HAI 288 (20,899gt, built 2021) yesterday outside Ho Chi Minh port.
Both vessels are containerships. RESURGENCE was sailing upstream having called at Leam Chabang before arriving in Vietnam. WAN HAI 288 was sailing downstream on a voyage towards Kaohsiung.
WAN HAI 288 was struck on the portside by the bow of RESURGENCE. As a result, WAN HAI 288 suffered severe damage and became stuck in the bank of the river. RESURGENCE was able to berth at the Ho Chi Minh container terminal.
