Reports have been received that the container vessel W KYRENIA experienced a full blackout while navigating at a position approximately 150 nautical miles south east of Hong Kong on 4 December 2025.

As a result of the blackout, tugs were engaged to assist the vessel to a place of safety. The vessel was taken to Guishan, China, where she is currently anchored undergoing repairs, completing local authority formalities, and carrying out testing prior to sailing. The vessel’s power supply has since been fully restored.

Owners have declared General Average in view of the extraordinary costs incurred for the safety of the maritime adventure. General Average security will therefore be required from all cargo interests prior to delivery of cargo.
