Reports have been received that Panamanian vessel TTP SUN (5,758gt, built 2013) was disabled and adrift yesterday due to a broken rudder.
The general cargo vessel, with 17 crew on board, is in the South China Sea off Vietnam (around position lat 08 36 49N, long 110 43 54E) and vessels in the vicinity have been asked to keep a sharp lookout.
TTP SUN sailed from Davao, Philippines on 11 January and is destined for Vung Tao, Vietnam.
It is possible that general average and salvage claims will be made against cargo insurers as a result of this incident.
