Reports have been received that Marshall Islands flag vessel SIDER OLYMPIA (23,239gt, built 2013) suffered a fire on board whilst berthed at Norfleet, UK earlier today.
Emergency responders are currently in attendance in an effort to bring the fire under control. The intention is to cool the cargo with water before using CO2.
There were no injuries reported to any of the 24 crew members on board. SIDER OLYMPIA, a bulk carrier, is on a voyage from Antwerp, Belgium carrying a cargo of lithium iron phosphate.
