Reports have been received that Singapore flag vessel SHILING (53,807gt, built 2005) issued a distress call after developing a list off the coast of New Zealand earlier today.

The New Zealand authorities are responding, and aircraft have been sent to assess the situation. We understand that a tug has been despatched from Taranaki and should reach the vessel today.

SHILING, a containership, trades between New Zealand and Malaysia, but is also likely to have cargoes destined for and from originating from other countries in the region.
