Reports have been received that Marshall Islands flag vessel PANORIA (30,004gt, built 2008) suffered an engine room fire off the coast of Pingtung, Taiwan on 04 January 2025.
The vessel’s lost power as a result and sent a distress signal. Coast guard vessels and a helicopter were sent to the scene and four injured crew members airlifted to hospital.
It is understood that towage assistance is being co-ordinated by the Maritime and Port Bureau’s South Branch.
Before the accident the PANORIA had called at Belawan and had been at anchor in Indonesian waters for some time afterwards. The vessel, a bulk carrier, is reported to be destined for Nantong.
