Reports have been received that Bangladeshi flag vessel PANGAON EXPRESS (2,195gt, built 2004) is possibly aground and partially submerged/sunk en route to Dhaka, Bangladesh.
PANGAON EXPRESS is a small feeder vessel reported to be carrying 96 containers from Chittagong upriver to an inland container terminal.
The cause of the incident is unknown at this time, but poor weather was being experienced at the time.
There are conflicting reports as to whether the vessel has now sunk or remains just partially submerged. Salvage plans have been instigated in any event.
