Reports have been received that Liberia flag vessel MSC SAO PAOLO V (53,324gt, built 1998) experienced an engine room fire on 03 March 2024.
At the time the containership was in the St Lawrence River near Les Bergeronnes. The vessel was still on fire as of yesterday and the crew were still on board. Various vessels are in attendance to assist as necessary.
MSC SAO PAOLO V is on a voyage to Sines in Portugal, and other ports in Europe. The vessel had sailed from Montreal shortly before the fire broke out.
