Reports have been received that Portuguese flag vessel MSC HOUSTON V (44,234gt, built 2010) lost at least fifteen containers overboard yesterday whilst sailing in rough seas off the coast of Portugal.

The vessel has been forced to deviate into Vigo, Spain as a port of refuge where it arrived earlier today.

It is understood that some containers have collapsed whilst others are hanging over the side of the vessel.

MSC HOUSTON V had sailed from Piraeus, Greece on 15 March, destined for Liverpool in the UK. Previously the vessel had called at ports in Turkiye.
