CONTAINER VESSEL ALLISION AT KAOHSIUNG PORT

whilst berthed at Pier No. 77, Kaohsiung Port
Reports have been received that the fully cellular containership HAIAN OPUS, whilst berthed at Pier No. 77, Kaohsiung Port, came into contact with the fully cellular containership ZEAL LUMOS at approximately 1200 hrs local time on 1 April 2026.
As a result of the incident, four containers fell into the sea and numerous containers onboard sustained damage.
No injuries or oil pollution have been reported.
The Port Authority has instructed ZEAL LUMOS to suspend departure and return to Pier No. 110 to assist with investigations.
HAIAN OPUS has been instructed to secure damaged containers, and arrangements are being made to retrieve the containers lost overboard.
The vessels were both at Kaohsiung Port, Taiwan, at the time of the incident.
As well as cargo damage, it is possible that claims for salvage (in respect of container retrieval) and general average may arise as a result of this incident.
