Reports have been received that Liberian flag vessel EVER FEAT (116,295 GT, Built 2021), en route from Navegantes, Brazil, encountered severe storm conditions approximately off Rio Grande on 28 July 2025. She berthed at the Port of Montevideo, Uruguay, on 29 July with 30–40 visibly damaged containers, many skewed and hanging precariously over the vessel’s side, seemingly on the verge of collapse and falling overboard.

It is understood that the storm disrupted container lashings and stacking integrity, resulting in significant misalignment and damage. Salvage teams from Montecon, together with local port authorities and the National Port Administration, are currently engaged in securing the containers. An exclusion zone has been established around the vessel to ensure safety during salvage operations. The cargo included fertilizers, triggering coast guard safety advisories due to environmental and toxic risk considerations. It remains unknown if any containers have been lost overboard.

The vessel’s last port of call prior to the incident was Navegantes, Brazil, and she was destined for Montevideo, Uruguay, at the time of damage assessment. As well as cargo damage, it is possible that claims for salvage, general average, and potential pollution/contamination, especially involving hazardous cargo, will arise from this incident.
