Reports have been received that Mongolian flag vessel EAGLE 1 (5,049gt, built 1995) suffered a fire on board off the coast of Tanjung Piai, Malaysia yesterday.
The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) rescued fourteen crew members. One of them was swept into Singapore waters and was later found unconscious and taken to hospital.
EAGLE 1, a product tanker, had been at anchor for some weeks prior to the incident, having last called at Tanjung Uncang on 09 December 2024.
