Reports have been received that the vessel DEVON BAY has capsized approximately 55 nautical miles northwest of Huangyan Island, China.

It is understood that the incident occurred at approximately 1:34 AM on 23 January 2026.

The China Coast Guard received an emergency report from the Sansha City Maritime Search and Rescue Center in Hainan Province and immediately dispatched two coast guard vessels to conduct search and rescue operations.

The vessel was reported to have 21 Filipino crew members on board at the time of the casualty. As at the latest update, 13 crew members have been rescued, and search and rescue operations are ongoing.

The vessel’s last port of call before the accident was the Philippines, and she was en route to Yangjiang Port, China.

As well as potential cargo damage, it is possible that claims for salvage and General Average may arise as a result of this incident.
