Reports have been received that Panamanian flag vessel D ANGELS (28,676gt built 2002) suffered a main engine breakdown on 26 May 2025 whilst off the coast of India near Cochin.
At the time, the vessel was on a voyage from ports in China and South Korea and was destined for the UAE.
The vessel’s crew attempted to make temporary repairs but without success. D ANGELS was then taken in tow to Jaigad, India, as a port of refuge.
We now understand that Jaigad can no longer accommodate the container vessel, which will have to be towed to Jebel Ali.
The Shipowners have declared general average (GA). Cargo insurers are being asked to provide GA security (or a cash deposit of 10% of cargo value) before the cargo can be delivered.
