Reports have been received that Marshall Islands flag vessel CAPE LEGACY (93,565gt, built 2011) was in collision with Chinese flag vessel FEI DA 138 (built 2021) on the Yangtze River yesterday.

CAPE LEGACY, under pilotage and en route to Zhenjiang, attempting to take avoiding action and ran aground.

No injuries or pollution have been reported. We understand that part of the cargo on board CAPE LEGACY may have to be discharged to assist with refloating.

The extent of damage to FEI DA 138, which trades between ports in China, remains unclear at this time.
