Reports have been received that Liberian flag vessel BOSPHORUS ASIA (19,885gt, built 2002) ran aground yesterday on the Parana River, at kilometre mark 318.4.
The vessel is loaded with a cargo of 31,500mt maize destined for Luanda, Angola. BOSPHORUS ASIA remains aground at this time and refloating options are being discussed.
It is possible that general average and salvage claims will be made against cargo insurers as a result of this incident.
