Type
Cargo Loss and Damage

Voyage
Colombia / Peru

Reports have been received that MV Ever Lunar (101,063 GT, Built 2015) was anchored in Callao Bay, Peru, on 1 August 2025 awaiting entry into port, when severe rolling caused by sudden wave surges—possibly linked to a recent Katmchatka earthquake-triggered tsunami, rough winter sea conditions, or wave swell—resulted in approximately 50 containers falling overboard from the stern of the vessel. The port was temporarily closed to manage hazard risk.

It is understood that all crew members aboard Ever Lunar were reported safe. The fallen containers carried non‑hazardous goods, primarily plastic products, and no pollution has been confirmed to date. Port authorities have recovered some containers and marked submerged hazards. The port was reopened later the same day after operations resumed.

EVER LUNAR had sailed from Buenaventura, Colombia on 24 July. Previously, the vessel had called at ports in Mexico and China.
