Reports have been received that Comoros flag vessel RAPTOR (4,294gt, built 1985) sank yesterday off the coast of Lesbos, Greece.

One crew member was rescued and taken to the island’s hospital. Another has been confirmed dead. The remaining 12 crew members are still missing.

The vessel, carrying a cargo of 6,000mt of salt from Egypt to Turkey, suffered an engine breakdown in heavy seas, before taking on water and capsizing.

Several merchant vessels are assisting the Greek authorities in the search for survivors.
