Reports have been received that Liberian flag vessel MUMTAZ AMCA (4,921gt, built 1983) suffered an explosion on board yesterday off Sinop.
One crew member reportedly died in the incident and another was injured.
Subsequently, the vessel sheltered and dropped anchor at Sinop anchorage under its own power.
The fire was controlled and extinguished by the crew. An incident investigation file has been opened by the Public Prosecutor.
Departure permission has been cancelled by the Harbour Master till the completion of the incident investigation formalities.
