The GDPR states, ‘the processing of personal data for direct marketing purposes may be regarded as carried out for a legitimate interest’
“Legitimate Interest” in this context means the interests of our company in conducting and managing our business to enable us to provide you with essential information to give you best service.
We may therefore process your personal information for carefully considered and specific purposes which are in our interests and enable us to enhance the services we provide.

For example, we have an interest in making sure our news and casualty bulletins are relevant to you, where for example, developments in maritime or insurance law or where timely information on an incident can be critical to effective case management. Our legitimate business interests do not automatically override your interests – we will not use your Personal Data for activities where our interests are overridden by the impact on you (unless required by law).
