DOCUMENTS REQUIRED TO PURSUE A CLAIM:

Ideally, the following documents are required for us to pursue a claim with a good chance of recovery. We realise that some of them may not be available and we shall do the best we can with what documents you do have:

  • Copy of the Insurance Policy (if applicable)
  • Subrogation Letter/Receipt (if applicable)
  • Breakdown of the Claim Amount
  • Commercial Invoice
  • Packing list
  • Bill of Lading (clear copies of both sides – or an original if possible)
  • Charter Party (if applicable)
  • Survey Report (with colour photographs, where available)
  • Outturn Receipts at each stage of delivery
  • Tally Sheets (where appropriate)
  • Notice of Claim sent to the Carrier
  • Invitation sent to the Carrier to attend a Joint Survey

For Bulk and Liquid Cargoes we also need:

  • Draft survey or ullage report at loading and discharge ports.

For Containerised Cargoes we also need:

  • Equipment Interchange Receipt (EIR) or equivalent from loading and discharge ports
  • Evidence of security seal at each stage of transit

In addition, the following documents may assist depending on circumstances:

  • Product Specifications (in cases of contamination)
  • Copies of Correspondence
  • Sale Contract

NOTE: Wherever possible, we would prefer original documents.

All relevant comments written in foreign characters should ideally be translated into English. An internal translation is usually sufficient.
