Reports have been received that Panamanian flag vessel HAKATA QUEEN (34,592gt, built 2016) ran aground earlier today in the Kattegat between Denmark and Sweden.
The bulk carrier is reportedly carrying a cargo of 43,360mt soya beans from San Lorenzo, Argentina to Gdynia, Poland.
The vessel has reported damage to two ballast tanks. No pollution has been reported to date. Other vessels are in attendance.
It is possible that claims for salvage and/or general average may be brought against cargo insurers as a result of this incident.
