Reports have been received that Cyprus flag vessel SAMSKIP AKRAFELL (4,450gt, built 2003) ran aground off Iceland, near Vattarnes, earlier this morning.
The vessel sailed from Reykjavik on 2nd September 2014 having previously called at Rotterdam and Immingham. Her next scheduled ports of call are Isafjordur and Reydharfjordur.
The vessel has taken on water into her engine room and some crew members have been brought ashore. Four crew members remain on board.
