Reports have been received that Bahamas flag vessel PINE GALAXY (12105gt, built 2004) suffered a fire on board 700 miles off Cape Mendocino, USA on 13th August.
The fire was in the vessel’s engine room. PINE GALAXY, on a voyage from Long Beach to Yosu, has been left disabled as a result. Tugs have been despatched to the vessel.
It is possible that claims for Salvage and General Average will be brought against cargo interests as a result of this incident.
