Reports have been received that Marshall Islands flag vessel LMZ ARIEL (33032gt, built 2012) was immobilized due to machinery damage/ failure about 400miles off Ponta de Madeira, Brazil on or around March 17th 2014.
The vessel is being assisted by professional salvors Tsavliris Salvage and under the terms of an LOF salvage contract.
Cargo insurers will be required to provide salvage security in London before the cargo can be delivered. It is also likely that General Average will be declared.
The vessel is carrying a cargo of steel slabs loaded at Praia Mole and destined for discharge at Philadelphia.
