Reports have been received that Hong Kong flag vessel MAGSENGER 2 (64,110gt built 2011) has been towed into Cape Town following an engine failure.
The bulk carrier is on a voyage from Shanghai to Tuburao. We understand that this is the vessel’s maiden voyage.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
