Reports have been received that Liberian flag vessel VOSTOK (14754gt built 1996) has been towed into Japan by salvage tug Shoyo Maru.
The bulk carrier, carrying a cargo of cement, was reported disabled 450 miles south of Yokosuka. Tsavliris salvage were contracted to render assistance.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
