Reports have been received that Barbados flag vessel FEDERAL ST.LAURENT (20837gt built 1996) has partially sunk at Antwerp today.
It is understood that the bulk carrier struck the river wall and returned to the berth. She then began to take on water and has sunk by the stern. The fire brigade is on the scene.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
