Reports have been received that Marshall Islands flag vessel TETE RICKMERS (14278gt built 2000) has rung aground outside Tartous.
The vessel has on board 563 containers destined for discharge in Tartous and Lattakia. Initial efforts by local tugs have not succeeded on refloating the vessel.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
