Reports have been received that Russian flag vessel ELGA-1 (4966gt, built1991) suffered water ingress in her engine room whilst in the vicinity of Varna yesterday.
A support vessel SEA SPIDER was sent to assist ELGA-1, and the crew members were all taken off the casualty.
We understand that salvage services are being rendered to the ship and cargo by Svitzer Salvage under an LOF contract.
It will be necessary for salvage security and also, possibly, general average security to be provided on behalf of the cargo owners before delivery.
