Date: 19.05.09     Type: Seawater Ingress     Voyage: Far East/East Africa

Reports have been received that Panama flag vessel PINE TRADER (18322gt built 1979) has suffered seawater ingress on a voyage to East Africa. She has on board a cargo of rice.

It is understood that a tug operated by Smit Salvage is in attendance. The vessel’s engine room is reportedly flooded.

It is possible that a salvage claim will be brought against the insurers of the cargo on board. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
