Reports have been received that South Korean flag vessel KEUM YANG 6 (2,347gt, built 2017) sent out a distress signal earlier today whilst sailing off southwest of the island of Jeju, South Korea.
When emergency services arrived on the scene the found the vessel with a severe list to port and in danger of sinking. The crew members were evacuated and are being taken to Hwasun Port by a patrol boat.
KEUM YANG 6 is on a voyage from South Korea to China carrying a cargo of steel plates.
