Reports have been received that Panamanian flag vessel BEATA (6,617gt, built 2001) suffered a fire on board yesterday off Sinop.
The fire could not be brought under control and the crew abandoned the vessel. One crew member, possibly the Master, is reported to be missing and others have been injured. The rescued crew members have been taken to Sinop.
The vessel, on a cargo voyage from Constanta to Trabzon, is reportedly drifting off the Turkish coast.
