KMTC SURABAYA collision with GLENGYLE

Reports have been received that Panama flag vessel KMTC SURABAYA (28,736gt, built 2018) was in collision with Hong Kong flag vessel GLENGYLE (23,269gt, built 2015) on the Long Tau River on 25 April 2025.

As a result of the accident, GLENGYLE has suffered severe water ingress. It appears the vessel may now been aground.

Some pollution has been reported but fortunately no injuries. A boom has been placed around the stricken vessel.  

The collision occurred in a narrow bend in the river during the hours of darkness. An investigation into the cause of the incident is underway.

GLENGYLE, a bulk carrier, is reported to have arrived at Cai Mep, Vietnam on 18 April 2025 having sailed from Kaohsiung, Taiwan on 10 April 2025.

KMTC SURABAYA, a Japanese owned container vessel, had called, prior to this incident, at Tanjung Priok, Indonesia on 18 April 2025 and Lam Chabang, Thailand on 14 April 2025.
