Reports have been received that Chinese flag vessel NING YUAN BEI LUN (11,736gt, built 2025) was in collision with Chinese flag vessel JIANG ZHI DA 66 (8,470gt, built 2023) off Yangmao Island, near Ningbo on 29 March 2025.
JIANG ZHI DA 66, a bulk carrier, quickly sank following the incident. All 13 crew members were rescued from the water, although some injuries and possibly one fatality have been reported.
NING YUAN BEI LUN, a general cargo vessel, remained afloat and was reported to be an anchor in the vicinity.
The local maritime authorities are investigating the cause of the incident.
Shortly before the accident, NING YUAN BEI LUN, which has only recently been launched, had sailed from Meishan. JIANG ZHI DA 66 had sailed from Beilun.
