Reports have been received that Panamanian flag vessel ONE HAMMERSMITH (98,747gt, built 2009) suffered an engine breakdown recently and received salvage services under a Lloyd’s Open Form (LOF) salvage contract.

The containership is now off Breast, France, waiting for a commercial tow into the next port of call. The LOF salvage services have been completed.

There are around 5,000 containers on board ONE HAMMERSMITH. The insurers of all cargo on board are being asked to provide salvage security before the cargo can be delivered.

We understand that the ship owners have not declared general average as yet although adjusters have been appointed to assist in the collection of salvage security.

The vessel is destined to unload cargoes in France, Belgium and Germany. Prior to this incident, ONE HAMMERSMITH had called at Singapore, Shimizu, Nagoya, Kobe, Tokyo, Oakland and Los Angeles.
