Reports have been received that Liberian flag vessel HAYRIYE ANA (6,550gt, built 2009) was in collision with Madeira flag vessel EG OLIVIA (35,881gt, built 2006) off the coast of Sicily earlier today.
Multiple rescues vessels as well as aircraft have been sent to the scene, although it is reported that both vessels are still afloat as of this afternoon.
HAYRIYE ANA is a general cargo vessel which had sailed from Constanta on 14 April, having previously called at Gemlik. EF OLIVIA is the larger of the two vessels, a containership, which had sailed from Hamburg destined for the Mediterranean on 11 April 2024.
