Reports have been received that Korean flag vessel KMTC SHENZHEN (28,827gt, built 2013) caught fire early today off Port Klang, Malaysia.
No injuries have been reported. Emergency response vessels are now in attendance. The fire apparently started in a cargo in the forward part of the vessel.
Prior to arriving off Port Klang, KMTC SHENZHEN had called at Hong Kong, Shanghai, Qianwan, Incheon and Busan.
As well as cargo damage, it is possible that cargo insurers will face claims for salvage and general average.
