Reports have been received that Antigua flag vessel MAREN (9,966gt, built 2002) ran aground off Cide, Turkey on 01 April 2023.
The vessel, a containership, has apparently suffered a 20m hull breach with sea water ingress into the ballast tanks as a result.
The seawater is being pumped out whilst part of the cargo must be taken off to salvage the situation.
MAREN sailed for Piraeus on 30 March 2023. The vessel generally trades between ports in Greece, Turkey and Georgia.
