Reports have been received that Netherlands flag vessel ESCAPE (17,368gt, built 2011) suffered an engine room fire earlier today in the Baltic Sea.
The crew could not extinguish the fire and were rescued by a nearby vessel KAIRIT. Salvors have been engaged and it is expected that the vessel will be towed to Riga.
ESCAPE is a container vessel which trades between ports in the Baltic and North Seas.
