Reports have been received that Panamanian flag vessel Ah Shin suffered a fire in the South China Sea off the coast of Vietnam. No injuries have so far been reported as a result of the incident. It is understood that the fire started on 3rd Feb and that the vessel was disabled for several hours but has reached Vung Tau, Vietnam, as a port of refuge.
As well as cargo damage, it is possible the claims for salvage and general average will arise as a result of this incident.
