Type
Water ingress

Voyage
South Abaco, Bahamas

Reports have been received that Antigua and Barbuda flag vessel ONEGO TRAVELLER (6.301gt, built 2002) suffered water ingress on 28 December off South Abaco, Bahamas.

Attempts to beach the vessel failed in bad weather conditions. Subsequently the crew of 16 was evacuated.

The vessel has on board a cargo of minerals in bulk and steel products. Local authorities are monitoring the vessel in an effort to prevent environmental
damage.

Repairs could not undertaken by the crew and the containership was taken in tow by tug ERACLEA. We understand that the convoy reached Algeciras as a port of refuge earlier today.

OAKLAND is on a voyage from the US to ports in the Mediterranean and was expected to continue through Suez and then eastwards.
