Reports have been received that Liberian flag vessel KENT TRADER (25,535gt, built 2001) suffered a fire in its engine room on 19 July 2021.
As a result of the incident, the ship owners have declared general average. Before the cargo can be delivered, cargo insurers are being asked to provide average guarantees.
The vessel is presently at Hong Kong. It is likely that the cargo will have to be transhipped to destination.
