Reports have been received that Portuguese flag vessel BUXCLIFF (72,760gt, built 2001) experienced a fire in engine room on 6 March 2021 whilst in the North Atlantic.
The fire was extinguished by the crew. No injuries or pollution have been reported. During the incident, the vessel drifted in an north-easterly direction before getting underway again yesterday.
Prior to the fire, BUXCLIFF, a containership, had sailed from Houston having previously called New Orleans, Altamira and Veracruz.
The vessel is destined to call at Antwerp, Rotterdam and Bremerhaven, before returning to the US.
