Reports have been received that Cypriot flag vessel PANAMAX ALEXANDER (38,928gt, built 2001) suffered an engine breakdown yesterday whilst approximately 500 miles southwest of Ireland.
Initially it was thought that the crew would undertake repairs. But the owners of the vessel have now arranged for tug assistance to bring the vessel to either Brest or Falmouth.
The bulk carrier has on board a cargo of 70.250mt of iron ore. She sailed from Seven Islands, Canada on 15 February 2018 and is destined for Ghent, Belgium.
