Reports have been received that Hong Kong flag vessel LONG CHARITY (93000gt built 1985) has run aground off Saldanha Bay, South Africa.
It is understood that the vessel suffered an engine failure. Four tugs proceeded towards the vessel initially with a salvage tug expected later.
It is possible that salvage claims will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
