Reports have been received that Bahamas flag vessel GALAXY LEADER (48,710gt, built 2002) was hijacked by Houthi rebels in the Red Sea west of Hodeidah.
The vehicle carrier, which sailed from Yarimca, Turkey on 12 November 2023 and is destined for Pipavav, India.
GALAXY LEADER, with 22 crew members on board, has been taken to an anchorage in Yemeni waters.
