Reports have been received that Marshall Islands flag vessel CLIPPER COMO (23,270gt, built 2010) was in collision with Marshall Islands flag vessel LEVANTES (40,008gt, built 2001) off Bozcaada Island, Turkey earlier today.
CLIPPER COMO has suffered serious damage because of the accident, with water ingress leading to a list to port. Search and rescues vessels and tugs are in attendance.
The extent of damage to LEVANTES is unclear at this point, and the vessel is drifting south of Lemnos Island.
CLIPPER COMO, a bulk carrier, is on a voyage from Jorf Lasfar to Samsun carrying phosphates. LEVANTES, also a bulk carrier, is carrying a cargo of wheat from Novorossiysk to Port Said.
