Reports have been received that Panamanian flag vessel OOCL DURBAN (3,125gt, built 1991) came into contact with two gantry cranes at the port of Kaohsiung earlier today.

The two cranes collapsed as a result of the impact causing injury to one port worker and leaving the crane operators trapped inside the cranes.

Several cargoes on the quayside were also damaged. Earlier reports suggested that the accident was caused when OOCL DURBAN came into contact with another vessel on the berth, YONGYANG.
